Strategy, programs and governance

Josie Smith is the Founder and President of The Joyful Woman Project, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women restore joy, heal generational patterns and reconnect with their authentic selves.

Josie brings a rare pairing of business discipline and healing practice to this work. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and serves as Executive Operations Manager for The Love Peace Harmony Foundation, where she leads the daily operations of a mission-driven nonprofit. From 2020 to 2025 she founded and ran Sculpt Maven Spa LLC, a women’s wellness business. She continues that healing work through a mind-body-spirit practice grounded in her training as a Certified Personal Trainer, Reiki practitioner and Tao Hands practitioner.

The Joyful Woman Project was born from Josie’s own story. In 2019 she lost her mother to colon cancer, and soon after returned home to care for her father through his own colon cancer diagnosis, carrying a demanding professional life alongside the grief and daily work of caregiving. She came to know how heavily that weight settles into the body, and how easily a woman who holds everything for everyone can lose herself in the process. In learning to heal herself, Josie found her calling: to restore the very women who do the heavy lifting for their families and communities.

As Founder and President, Josie provides strategic leadership, program development, fundraising oversight, community-partnership cultivation and organizational governance. Her father, now a colon cancer survivor in remission, stands beside her in this mission.

Beyond her profession, Evelyn has devoted years to service that mirrors this mission. She volunteers with programs supporting survivors of domestic violence, offering mentorship, workshops and educational opportunities that help women rebuild their lives. As Ministry Leader of her church’s Creative Arts Ministry for youth she helps young people develop their gifts, and through the PEACE Ministry she helps provide food, clothing and essential resources to families in need.
