Our commitment

The Joyful Woman Project is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. Accessibility is part of what we mean by welcome.

What we have done

• Text and background colors tested for readable contrast.
• A logical heading structure on every page.
• Full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator.
• A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
• Labeled form fields, and errors that explain how to fix the problem.
• Alternative text on meaningful images.
• Animation reduced automatically when your device asks for less motion.
• Layouts that work on small screens and at increased text size.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Where we know we fall short

This site is new and still being built. As we add photography, documents and video we will add alternative text, captions and transcripts alongside them. Documents provided by third parties may not yet be fully accessible; ask us and we will provide the content in another format.

The Healing House

Physical accessibility is part of the Healing House planning, not an afterthought to it. Accessibility and safety improvements are named in the project scope.
